At times, it may be necessary to give others access
to SiteWorx so that they may assist you in the management
of your website/domain. To make this process less difficult,
SiteWorx provides a comprehensive User Account Management
facility that allows you to create extra SiteWorx accounts
while only giving the account holders access to the
areas of SiteWorx that you wish. For example, it is
possible to create a user account that only allows
the user to access your domain's statistics.
To access the User Account Management facility, you
may click on the User Accounts link in the Left Control
Panel menu, as illustrated below:
The result of clicking on this is the User Account
Management Screen, similar to that depicted below:
Creating User Accounts
We may add any number of User accounts, up to the
limit (if any) of User accounts assigned to our SiteWorx
account.
There is always at least one user account on your
server, termed the Master Account. This account,
which cannot be deleted, has full access to all SiteWorx
features on your domain. Any additional accounts that
you create are termed Slave Accounts, and,
as previously mentioned, can vary in access restrictions.
- We will begin by creating an account with the
username "Ally." We must enter appropriate information
for this account (name, e-mail address, password)
into the relevant input boxes of the Add a User sub-window:
- To create the account, we click on the Add button:
- You will now be presented with an additional screen.
On this screen are access-control options for the
account you are creating. If you wish to give the
user full access to all SiteWorx features on your
domain, you may click on the text (check all).
Otherwise, you may select which features you wish
the new user to have access to:
- We will provide Ally with access to all options,
except for FTP Accounts, Preferences and Users:
- We continue by pressing the Add button:
- SiteWorx will report that our changes have taken
effect:
Editing Existing Accounts
There are many cases when existing aspects of accounts
must be edited. In the case of User Accounts, we may
change account names, e-mail addresses, access restrictions,
and status (active, or able to be utilized, or inactive,
or unable to be utilized; useful to temporarily lock-out
accounts).
- For the sake of example, we will now edit our "Ally" account,
and change various options such as the account privileges
and its status (from active to inactive). To accomplish
this, we must first click on the Edit button
adjacent to the "Ally" account:
- We are presented with a screen similar to that
which we used when we created the account. Any available
options may be modified:
- We have left the Ally account with only a few
access privileges, and have made it inactive. Inactive
accounts are not able to be utilized; attempts to
log-in using them will result in access to SiteWorx
being denied:
- So that our changes take effect, we press the Save button:
- As we can see, SiteWorx both reports our success
and also makes our changes take effect:
- Given that we will no longer require this account,
we can safely delete it. To this end, we must press
the Delete button adjacent to the account
we wish to delete. Also notable is that Master Account
always exists; it cannot be deleted:
- In order to delete "Ally," we must confirm by
pressing the Delete button:
- As per usual, SiteWorx reports its success:
