 e
love it here and wanted to share Flagstaff with those of you
from outside the area who have not been lucky enough to visit.
Following is a little information plus a few related links.
Flagstaff
is located in beautiful Northern Arizona, nestled amid Ponderosa
pine forests at 7,000 feet. Among the highest cities in the
United States, Flagstaff sits at the base of the San Francisco
Peaks, Arizona's highest point at just under 13,000 feet.
Once
a resting place along the wagon route from the East to California,
Flagstaff became a permanent settlement in 1881 when the railroad
arrived. Historic Route 66 parallels the busy train tracks
that still pass right through downtown Flagstaff. Interstate
Highways 17 and 40 intersect nearby.
Flagstaff
is the seat for Coconino County, which is the second largest
county in the nation and whose boundaries contain the Hopi
and much of the Navajo nation lands. The Grand Canyon and
Sedona are both nearby.
